OMS measurement helps client ensure project efficiency

OMS is providing pipe measurement services and fit-up analysis for the Skarv Satellites Project in Norway. Owned by Aker BP, the Skarv Satellites Project is the third largest in the Norwegian North Sea and is the joint development of three offshore discoveries – Alve Nord, Idun Nord and Ørn. The development consists of a four-slot template and two wells, tied back to the Skarv floating production storage and offloading (FPSO) vessel.

Contracted by ERPC giant Subsea7, OMS is providing pipe measurement services and fit-up analysis of several thousand pipes for the mainline fabrication part of the project. Measurement has taken place in snowy conditions at Subsea7’s spoolbase in Vigra, Norway.

Paul Eagle, OMS Sales Director, said, ‘OMS is very happy to be working again with our valued partners at Subsea7, especially on the prestigious Skarv Satellites Project. We are providing end-dimensioning measurement of a large quantity of 16” pipe plus fit-up analysis that will reduce HiLo and optimise efficiency during the welding process.’

A Subsea7 spokesman said, ‘OMS operators in Vigra are continuing to offer great support to what is, thus far, a successful mainline fabrication campaign. The quality they are setting us up to achieve means we have every expectation of coming in bang on our forecast number of days.’
