OMS presents SmartGrind technology at 2nd Offshore Projects Quality Forum

The OMS team recently attended the 2nd Aramco Offshore Projects Quality Forum to showcase our inspection and remediation technology. Marcus Smiles, OMS Global Manager, delivered a presentation on solutions to address challenges during internal field joint coating that won an event award for its contribution to innovative technology for pursuing excellence.

Sponsored by Saudi Aramco and taking place in Abu Dhabi, the Forum was attended by professionals and experts from across the energy industry to discuss the theme of ‘Pursuing Excellence, Innovation and Technology.’

OMS demonstrated SmartGrind, our ground-breaking weld inspection and remediation system which has been officially verified by Saudi Aramco. SmartGrind locates, identifies, quantifies and solves a wide range of weld defects through targeted grinding, leaving weld surfaces stronger and better prepared for coating. Welds can be accessed via robotic crawler or attached to the ILUC, eliminating the need for man-entry and thus improving safety. Production can proceed efficiently with reduced need for expensive and time-consuming cut-outs.

Paul Eagle, Sales Director said, ‘The Offshore Projects Quality Forum was a hugely successful event, bringing energy industry professionals from all over the region together to discuss the challenges that affect us all. We were pleased to showcase SmartGrind, our weld inspection and remediation system which can help solve the weld issues that affect pipeline coatability and asset lifetime. As an award-winning business focused on innovation, OMS appreciates Saudi Aramco’s commitment to improving quality across the entire energy supply chain. We would like to thank the company for hosting this important event, which will help to further collaboration and technology advancement throughout the industry.’
