OMS completes first CCS project
OMS has successfully completed work on our first carbon capture and sequestration (CCS) project. Contracted by McDermott, we measured over 11,000 16” line pipes for the Kasawari CCS project, developed off the coast of Sarawak, Malaysia, and owned by Petronas. We provided comprehensive information on pipe shape, including inner/outer diameter, wall thickness and out-of-roundness, alongside HiLo measurement and SmartFit fit-up analysis, helping our clients to complete the project on time and to budget. The next phase for OMS will be in early 2025 during offshore installation.
Kasawari Phase II is a follow-on project from the Kasawari Phase I gas project, also owned by Petronas, and aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions caused by flaring by 3.3m tonnes per year. It is one of the largest CCS projects in the world and is expected to start operating before the end of 2025.
